Skunk of an ABC Debate

One does not need a license in this country to work as a journalist...and last night's Obama-Clinton debate proved as much.

In fact, the Charlie Gibson-George Stephanopoulos tag team seemed more like paparazzi than moderators, focused on setting the tone of the campaign through concentration on political distractions, rather than political issues. From their perch, the two media buzzards circled about the same old same old roadkill, relegating voters to dead skunks in the middle of the road status--rundown by the obsession (and quite possibly, devotion) of the press to continued perpetuation of dirty smear campaign tactics.

A couple of Huntley-Brinkley wannabees kept this country from a discussion of the issues last night through their propensity for yellow journalism, sensationalism and scandal-mongering.

"...the gloves were off from the beginning, as the two ABC moderators, one of them a former press secretary to President Clinton, attempted to land as many blows as possible on the candidates."
