"I Like Boogers."

Leaders usually emerge in tough situations, but over in Brevard County, they jump backwards, most usually into a mess of their own making.

Yesterday, I mentioned the impact 10,000 citizens can make when combined as one voice.

The clamor to Save Our Schools has all but drowned out the Sheriff's pleas for additional dollars over in Brevard County.

When 10,000 people show up to face six legislators, that tends to take precedent in the news coverage.

Here's the follow-up.

The Florida state legislators present during the town hall-style forum included state Sen. Mike Haridopolos, state Sen. Thad Altman, Rep. Steve Crisafulli, Rep. John Tobia, Rep. Ralph Poppell. and Rep. Ritch Workman. All six are Republicans.

After taking a beating from their constituency (see it for yourself here) in the best fair and balanced way, the local newspaper Florida Today provided an opportunity for the Brevard Delegation to respond.

Most referred to feeling "ambushed" by the crowd, by the county school superintendent, but freshman state representative Workman, he leaped backwards from the pack with the following comment:

"It's not a debate when the deck is stacked. Jovially, he (the school superintendent) could've said I like boogers and he would've got a standing ovation...."

I. Like. Boogers.

I can see the reelection bumper stickers now.

Pick a Booger for the State Legislature.

Better yet? Workman's comments were taped by the newspaper and the audio posted online for all to hear.

Come on down to Boogertown and take a listen to the Man Who Needs to Resign here.

If that's not enough to make your day, comments made by the remaining five can be perused here.
